Man Arrested for Attacking Legal Permit HolderYou may have heard that a man in Florida, Clarence Daniels, who was legally carrying a concealed weapon was attacked by Michael Foster who spotted his gun, then followed him into a Walmart store where he attacked him. While he was attacking him he yelled “This man has a gun” to which Daniels responded that he had a permit to legally carry the weapon.  Foster was arrested for battery after police determined that Daniels did in fact have a permit and was legally carrying the firearm.

Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, seemed to think it was crazy that a man was arrested for attacking another man who was doing nothing illegal.

Yes. Because in America we believe in freedom. Because in American we realize that evil does actually exist. Because in American we believe in the Second Amendment and in firearms for self-defense. Because in American we believe in laws. Because in America we believe that you shouldn’t be attacked when you are doing nothing wrong.

To Shannon and any one else that thinks it is crazy that Foster was arrested I ask the following questions:

First, so many of you believe that we shouldn’t take the law into our own hands. I see people frequently questioning those who carry a firearm why they believe they can take the law into their own hands. While it’s not an accurate assessment (we simply want to have the ability to defend our own lives should the police not be there to protect us at the very time we may need it), in this case the man was trying to take what he perceived as the law into his own hands without so much as alerting police or security, and he was very wrong about the situation.

Second, what if this man was an undercover or off-duty police officer. Do you find it acceptable to attack them because they have a gun and you don’t know who they are?

Third, are you ok that an innocent man was assaulted by someone (in this case someone who was 19 years younger)? In what way can you justify attacking someone who did no harm to you or anyone else. He was simply shopping.

Moms Demand Action Supports Second AmendmentMoms Demand Action claims to support the Second Amendment, but their founder is opposed to arresting a man who attacked someone else for simply seeing a holstered firearm? I can’t make sense of this. All I can make of this is that they don’t support any legal firearms (no shocker there) and are ok with attacks against law abiding citizens to attempt to scare and deter those who carry a gun.
