Freshly Minted CCW Permit and Looking for a Gun to Carry

2

So I just got my Utah Concealed Firearms Permit and I’m trying to figure out what gun to buy.  I want to carry the gun concealed, but I’m 6′3″, so I don’t necessarily have to get the smallest gun out there to pull it off.

Top two contenders right now are the Springfield XD-9 Sub Compact which and the Glock 19 Compact.  There seems to be plenty of debate in the forums out there as to which way to go — XD or Glock.

They both cost about the same amount.  The controls and the safety are a bit different.  Not sure how to make the final call.  Maybe over time I just get both!

I’m not familiar with the glock, but I did shoot the springfield in the .40 cal version and it was real nice. It had a nice extended mag the guy bought too. The only thing was I found (granted I only shot it once) that the decocking lever for the action was a little hard to use. Maybe its just something you have to get used to…

I tested the xd9, xd40 glock 23 and Taurus Mellinium.
The xd9 had more recoil then the 40. The Glock had A LOT of recoil and didn’t feel right in my hands same with the Taurus….the xd40 feels great, had less recoil then the 9 and thats the one for me!
